Japanese Musical Instrument / Gagaku Doyukai

■October 23(Sun)15:45-
The Gagaku Doyukai was founded in 1967 by a group of volunteers led by the late Hironori Sono, a former Imperial Household Agency musician,
for the purpose of spreading Gagaku to the general public and improving its techniques.
As president, Sono realized that his true calling was to nurture the next generation of performers, and he trained aspiring performers as uchideshi (apprentices), creating the first professional group of gagaku performers in the private sector and producing numerous leaders.
Today, with the guiding principle of continuing to strive for the transmission of the classics and to remain a group of "friends on the path of elegance," as the name of the association implies, we are engaged in performing and making wind instruments.
The group is also engaged in performances, the production of wind instruments, and the training of members as well as providing guidance to gagaku groups in various regions.
